Mr Healy
Thought i’d give you the back stories to the songs off Ghost Dance with the lyrics, so it’ll give you an idea of where the songs came from and what goes on in this complex little brain of mine!!
Mr Healy was written about a good friend, Steve Healy who got lymph cancer, given approx 6 months to live lasted 6 years and dealt with it with a wicked sense of humour. He was a very good muso in that, you hum it i’ll play it son sort of way, could play anything, a keen mind and wit and he was always right.
A classic example was towards the end when he couldn’t walk too far, he got himself a blue motor scooter so he could still get around, had a little transfer made for the side with Healy Davidson written on it, (he always wanted a Harley), kept riding it tell he fell off. He ended up causing havoc with a mobility scooter, that was Steve defiant till the end everything the doctors told him not to do he did, with a smile.
We been around a longtime friend, watched our families grow, Guitar in your hand a glint in your eye, a song that we all know, We’ve had our problems bad times and good, we both been around, Got to the place we wanted to be, laid back and gettin down
There’ll come a time we’ll say goodbye, I’ll remember all those times, oh-oh-oh, Take it easy Mr Healy, There by your side, along for the ride, Take it easy Mr Healy
You keep fighting on joke always on hand, when you’re feelin low, I’m glad to be there to wind you up mister, when you feel like letting go, So you deal with it friend with the music in you, sit back and let it flow, Guitar in your hand a glint your eye, a song that we all know
There’ll come a time we’ll say goodbye etc.
